In 1888 Edith travels by steam train to Sydney to visit the seaside entertainments with her cousins Percy and Frank.
During a visit to England I was asked if Australia ever had bathing machines (sheds on wheels that during the 1901 century were pulled to the edge of the sea by a horse and from where ladies bathed in the sea). Extensive research at the Mitchell Library in Sydney unearthed a little known wonderful Centennial Year background for Sydney's pleasure pastimes.
Because of the need for authenticity with the Victorian era style illustrations I was able to work closely with the wonderful illustrator Dee Huxley.
